Kraków (Krakow, Cracow) is one of the oldest cities in Poland and the former capital. Currently, it is the second largest polish city; Kraków is famous for its historical and cultural vibe. It is not only a UNESCO World Heritage site (Historic Center of Kraków) and home to numerous academic institutions, including Jagiellonian University – one of the oldest universities in the World, it is a prime economic centre and commercial hub hosting more than fifty multinational corporations. Kraków’s airport (John Paul II International Airport Kraków-Balice) is situated 11 km (7 miles) west of the city and can be reached by train (20 minutes from the main station Kraków Główny), bus (lines 208, 252, 902) or taxi (20-25 EUR). Furthermore, Katowice International Airport is located 80 kilometers (50 miles) or about 75 minutes by bus from Kraków. Poland’s capital, Warsaw, is conveniently connected with a fast train reaching its destination in just 2.5 hours.
AGH University of Science and Technology (Akademia Górniczo-Hutnicza im. Stanisława Staszica w Krakowie, in short: AGH) hosting the event, is the largest public technical university in Poland.
